Two seniors, Trinity Delacruz and Katherine Thomas received the designation of National Merit Commended Students based on their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT taken in 2020. This prestigious honor is afforded to only 34,000 out of the approximately 1.5 million high school age students in America.

When asked about this award, Trinity Delacruz ’22 shared, “I was honestly surprised when I saw the email from Mr. Basford notifying me I was named a National Merit Commended Student. I feel very blessed to receive an award and I’m very happy my hard work paid off.”

The second recipient, Katherine Thomas ’22 added, “I’m so grateful to have gotten this distinction, and was pretty surprised too! I’m really proud of what Trinity and I managed to do last year in the middle of the pandemic and I’m glad we got to celebrate together.”

These Royals have had many classes together over the past four years and have grown very close because of this. As they navigate the rest of senior year with college acceptances and academics, they both look forward to gaining support from each other and using the lessons they learned to propel them into a successful future.
