On Wednesday, Oct. 20, the Freshman Class of 2025 attended their annual retreat at the Fullerton Community Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This retreat, titled “Sisters For Life,” allowed the freshmen to discuss topics which can apply to their life.

The retreat began with breakfast, followed by a couple of icebreakers in which all the freshmen and their small group leaders participated. Samantha Oskorus ’25 said her favorite icebreaker was, “The wind game because it was fun to see everyone run around where at the end one person was stuck in the middle. It was also funny to see the person who was in the middle more than once do the chicken dance.”

During the retreat, there were three guest speakers, all alumnae from Rosary. First, was Mrs. O’Campo who talked about “Finding my Fit,” followed by Ms. Labonte who discussed, “Branching Out,” and the last talk was presented by Ms. Doherty and Mrs. Huerta who both talked about “Being a good friend and sister.”

Jazzy Sandoval ’25 shared her favorite discussion: “My favorite talk was when Ms. Doherty and Ms. Huerta talked about what it meant to be a good sister and a friend. It was very eye-opening to me especially since I have an older sister myself. I also really enjoyed the group questions and discussing different answers with my small group.”

After lunch, the freshmen did a craft with their small group. Each girl decorated pillowcases then they got to exchange them and write affirmations on each one. Jillian DeVega ’25 says, “I really enjoyed writing and receiving different affirmations from the pillowcases. We each wrote positive and uplifting messages to each other which made my day.”

To wrap up the end of the retreat, everyone attended Mass at St. Mary’s led by Father Ian. From there, they headed back to the Fullerton Community Center, said a closing prayer, and were picked up by parents.

This retreat was a great experience for the freshmen to come together and bond with their Royal sisters.
