Rosary Day celebrates the transition of the Junior class from underclasswomen to upperclasswomen. The highlight of the ceremony, the presentation of the rings, allows the juniors to ask a Rosary alumna to present them their ring. This is very exciting for many families with a long history of attendance at Rosary. The celebration brings the Rosary community together to combine two of the most essential elements of our school: God and sisterhood.

This year, Rosary Day will be both a celebration of the junior class and a mini reunion for the Rosary Academy class of 2019. An uncanny amount of juniors have sisters who graduated three years ago, and will welcome their sisters back to the campus this Friday.

Evelyn Schmitt ‘19 will present the ring to her younger sister Colleen Schmitt, who stated, “I am really excited to have my sister present me my ring this year. At first she wasn’t going to be able to be present it but at the last minute she found a way to get here. She’s my only other sister that went to Rosary so it is very special that she gets to present it to me.”

For some juniors, this day will be the conclusion of a family tradition. Emma Vasquez shared, “My sister, Lauren Vasquez graduated in 2019 and she attends the University of Southern California. I am really excited for her to present me my ring because I am the last girl in my family to attend Rosary Academy.”

While many alumna will celebrate reunions with their classmates, Rosary Day will reunite families as well.  Molly Muse shared, “My sister’s name is Delaney Fernandez and she graduated in 2019. She is in the United States Navy and is flying in from the Middle East. I’m really excited because I haven’t been able to see her in over a year.”

This Friday, Royals who have successfully completed their high school journey will give a new class of upperclasswomen class rings, strength to lead the campus, and a graceful example to follow. They will be sisters, teachers, and friends, and all the connections will make this year’s Rosary Day one to remember.
