Ah, the infamous Crumbl Cookie. This cookie chain seemingly took over every tik tok user’s “For You” page overnight.

Fortunately, I got to see if the cookies were really worth the hype at the local Brea location on Birch—located about 11 minutes away from the Rosary campus.

I got a box of six cookies: Milk Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Muddy Buddy, Cosmic Brownie, Cinnamon Swirl, and Chilled Sugar. I will be ranking the cookies on a list of 1 to 6, with one being the best and six being the worst.

1) Beginning with my personal favorite from the batch of six, Muddy Buddy. I am crazy for peanut butter and this cookie had a subtle, yet yummy, peanut butter taste! Along with the subtle hint of peanut butter goodness, the cookie had delicious chocolate cream on top to accompany it. The cream tasted like chocolate box cake batter and it was delicious! Overall, this cookie gets a 10!

2) Onto my runner-up favorite, Cinnamon Swirl. The cookie was Cinnabon-like with light and melty cream and cinnamon-sugar taste which was delicious and not overpowering. This cookie was crunchy on the ends and soft, almost cakey, in the middle. This cookie gets a solid 9.5.

3) Next is an absolute classic, Milk Chocolate Chip. It’s not difficult to mess up the classic chocolate chip, but this cookie was pleasantly delicious. Being fresh out of the oven, the cookie was crunchy on the ends, cakey within the center, and had delicious melty milk chocolate scattered within it. This classic rendition of a chocolate chip cookie was nothing revolutionary, but it is worthy of a fair 7.

4) Furthermore, the Cosmic Brownie cookie was just pretty fair. It did indeed taste like a Cosmic Brownie, and it looked like one too with chocolate cream and rainbow-colored chocolate chips decorating the top of the cookie. The cookie’s chocolate flavor was not too rich and intense, and the cookie itself had an overall cakey texture. For its authenticity to the timeless childhood snack, this cookie gets a 5.

5) Slowly nearing the end of the list, a pretty neutral cookie was the Oatmeal Raisin. Was it the best oatmeal cookie I have had…no…but was it the worst…also no. The cookie was grainy, did indeed taste like oatmeal, had a slight cinnamon-sugar taste, and a perfect amount of raisins. The cookie had an overall subtle taste, but it was truly nothing special. Overall, this cookie gets a 4.

6) Finally, the Chilled Sugar cookie was an ABSOLUTE menace to humanity. Well maybe I am over exaggerating a bit…but this cookie was just not spectacular. The cookie itself was plain and adequate, but the pink cream on top had a plastic-like taste and was just not my cup of tea…or should I say crumble of cookie. Overall, this cookie is a solid 2 on my scale.

So are Crumbl cookies really worth the hype—I don’t really think so. I’m a more chunky and crunchy cookie kind of girl and unfortunately, Crumbl Cookies just did not amaze me. I personally am a stickler for the amazing chunky and crunchy cookies Hudson’s Cookies has to offer. As for you Royals, do you think Crumbl Cookies are worth the hype?
