Teachers Went to Prom Too?

With posters covering campus and prom courts being announced, it’s hard to ignore the up-and-coming event of the season. Prom is that dance featured in every teen movie: one of the pinnacle moments of a high school career (alright, that’s a little dramatic, but you get the picture).

Contrary to popular belief, the wonderful beacons of knowledge that teach us about commas and tangent graphs had a coming of age of their own. Yes, that’s right. Our teachers also went to prom.

Dr. Villasenor’s prom was called the Senior Ball. She went with her best friend but also in a large group with their dates. She said, “Senior ball was a blast. It was in San Francisco at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel and we all danced our hearts out.”

Ms. Torres, pictured at the top, attended Valencia High School’s Prom in 2013. She stands iconic and stunning alongside her date, Jake (they’ve been dating now for 8 1/2 years). She said, “Prom was held at American Way Cultural Center. We danced the night away!”

My mom Laura DiCrisi is a science teacher at Servite. She said, “My senior prom was at a hotel in Irvine. I went with one of my best friends and I honestly had one of the best nights of my life. Also, I was wearing my absolute dream dress, which hindsight, looked much cooler when I was younger lol.”

Last but not least, Mrs. Hunt also shared her prom experience: “Our prom was in Long Beach at the Hyatt along the waterfront… it was a beautiful setting and a really fun night! We had a lovely dinner and I danced with all of my friends! I’m still friends to this day with my prom date junior year (and that was longer ago than I like to admit!)

To juniors and seniors: be sure to take pictures at Prom in case you ever get a job at Rosary and need to entertain future teenagers.

To Rosary teachers: thank you for being so iconic.
