The Bevaris spicy chicken sandwich is delicious.

Being back in full after a year of the online academy means one thing and one thing only: Bevaris Food Service is back in business. With almost a whole new and improved menu, first and second lunch are highly anticipated by many who would rather get another thirty minutes of sleep in than scavenge through the fridge and pantry for a lunch to pack. After seeing many of my friends walk down the halls with cheese pizzas, burgers, and smoothies galore, I decided to give our school lunches a try and rank my top five favorite meals that Bevaris has to offer.

1) The Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Talk about redefining the word delectable. The spicy chicken sandwich is delicious and is a great alternative for Chick-fil-a and other fast food sandwiches with the ‘no dropping off lunches’ regulation implemented at Rosary. The sandwich comes by itself which is great for picky eaters, and condiments are placed on the side for extra flavor. The sandwich takes first place on my list because of the chicken’s crispy texture, the soft, yet pleasantly firm texture of the buns, and the overall presentation of the sandwich. If you want to try the spicy chicken sandwich, make sure to get to the lunch line at the beginning of lunch because they’re definitely in high demand. Overall, I give the spicy chicken sandwich a 10/10.

2) Chocolate-chip Cookies

Although not a meal, the cookies sold at lunch definitely make it on my list of comfort foods. The crispiness of the outer part of the cookie and gradual softening of the texture towards the inside make it a great dessert. The cookies also come in packs of two which is great if you want to share or want to have an extra cookie to eat at any time. The chocolate-chip cookies are second on my list because they are delicious when sold warm and are the perfect balance of soft and crunchy. Overall, I give the cookies a 9/10.

3) Strawberry Smoothie

Although lacking its key ingredient, strawberries, the strawberry smoothie isn’t half bad. It’s made quickly with strawberry syrup which is good on the go but bad if you’re into nutritious food. The smoothie is also very refreshing and comes in two other flavors, Mango and Cookies n’ Cream, for those who don’t like strawberries. Overall, I give the strawberry smoothie an 8.5/10.

4) Cheese Pizza

In terms of presentation, the Cheese Pizza isn’t too great, but it doesn’t taste half bad. With four slices and a good cheese to sauce ratio, the cheese pizza is a good and quick lunch. Overall, I give the cheese pizza an 8.5/10.

5) Chicken bowl

The Chicken Bowl resembles that of a bowl from Waba Grill or Flame Broiler. With yummy steamed broccoli and white rice as the base, the teriyaki chicken bowl is one of my favorite meals sold at lunch. The chicken also doesn’t have too much teriyaki sauce on it, making it both a savory and sweet food to enjoy. Overall, I give the teriyaki chicken bowl an 8/10.

In summary, the school lunch menu this year has some good food to be excited about. I also was recently made aware that both iced coffee and crepes have been added to the menu, and I’m excited to give those a try. If you’re like me and can get on the lazier side when it comes to packing lunches, I recommend giving the foods listed above a try.
