In quarantine, many of us have become no stranger to binge-watching on Netflix. Although movies and shows can be very entertaining, documentaries allow us to gain vicarious insight on events others lived through.

Netflix has a multitude of documentaries to choose. They range from showing the lives of celebrities, detailing infamous murder cases, reviewing unsolved mysteries, and more.

First off, perfect for members of the Swiftie fandom, Miss Americana chronicles pop-star Taylor Swift’s life while also incorporating backstage and onstage concert footage.

Emma Silva ‘23 shared her satisfaction towards “Miss Americna”: ”I loved Miss Americana. Taylor talked about some struggles that I too have experienced, so it felt really assured that one of my favorite people ever too has gone through it. She spoke so candidly about her music, the industry,  and her personal life.”

Following his rise to fame, “In Wonder” records the life of teen heartthrob Shawn Mendes and captures his stardom, relationships, world tour, and some o his personal life.

Adriana Arroyo ‘23 stated her opinions on “In Wonder”: “My mom convinced me to watch ‘In Wonder’ because she’s a fan of Shawn. At first, I wasn’t too excited, but it’s such a good documentary. I feel like a lot of times the public doesn’t know exactly who the people singing in our radios really are, and after watching the documentary, I really grew to like Shawn Mendes.” She went on to further share that she proudly embraces her newfound admiration of Mendes and his music.

For sports fans, specifically basketball fans, “The Last Dance” a 10 episode docu-series about the 1997-1998 Chicago Bulls Basketball season, and a majority of legend Michael Jordan’s exceptional career.
