This Holiday season brings a rush of joy and relief in an unconventional time like now. Although we receive the holiday happiness and spirit, some who are less fortunate may not get to experience the true feeling of Christmas time.

In order to bring those who are less fortunate a truly joyful Christmas, many members of the Royal community actively work towards giving back this holiday season.

Rosary’s own Crittenton Club partners with Crittenton Services each Christmas to adopt a family and individual children in order to provide Christmas for them.

Mrs. Kearns ’78, who organized a majority of the Crittenton and Rosary services shared, “This year, we adopted 11 full families.  Two of our sports teams adopted families, various school departments on campus adopted families, and 6 Rosary families adopted one.  We also had over 70 ‘Angel Tree’ presents given to Crittenton from students along with faculty/staff members.”

She further explained what exactly the “family adoption programs” provided: “Dignity baskets” (household essential items) are provided along with individual gifts for the children in the family. She also stated that the families being served through Crittenton are struggling deeply to make ends meet, pay their bills and provide food and essentials for their family, and Christmas would not be possible for these families without the help of Crittenton Services.

Mrs. Kearns believes it is important to give back to those less fortunate because it allows for us to perform the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph, “reaching out to the dear neighbor without distinction” and live out our goal as Royals.

As Crittenton Club does, giving out a helping hand and choosing to help those less fortunate during the holiday season allows us to give others the true Christmas spirit we experience.
